MARK.S “Dress Shirt” (Beige)

A dress shirt crafted using “GIZA COTTON,” an Egyptian extra-long staple cotton counted among the world's top three, for both the warp and weft.

For the warp, 140-count double yarn with a silk-like luster is arranged in high density, while 120-count double yarn with slightly more thickness is used for the weft. Both yarns are gassed during spinning to remove excess fuzz, resulting in a finely textured and beautiful surface.

It is a high-density broadcloth that possesses both a delicate, supple feel and a substantial, solid texture. The finish involves sun-drying, and by rolling the fabric while it still retains naturally occurring wrinkles, it achieves a rich, unrefined aesthetic. After the product is completed, it is washed to provide a soft texture that conforms comfortably to the skin.

Beige is a seasonal color offered only for this season.

After sewing, the garment is naturally dyed in Amami Oshima using "Fukugi" (Garcinia subelliptica) and "Mud." It is first dyed yellow with Fukugi, then mordanted with the iron content found in the mud fields. The mud quietly subdues the vibrant yellow characteristic of Fukugi dyeing, creating a deep, subdued, and unique hue that differs from conventional beige.

The dyeing process consists of one round of Fukugi dyeing and one round of mud dyeing.

With the subtle luster of high-quality Giza cotton and the undulating colors derived from natural dyes, this is a garment that will adapt to the wearer's body and time, evolving into an even richer expression with repeated washing and wear.

*Due to the natural dyeing process, there are slight individual differences in color and shade for each piece. Please enjoy these as characteristics born from natural raw materials and handwork.

All MARK.S products are sewn in Japan. While some items may use vintage, deadstock, or hand-woven fabrics from overseas, the sewing, which forms the foundation of the manufacturing, is consistently carried out in Japan.

Brand:MARK.S

MARK.S is a brand that values receiving clothing through pure "sensation" rather than understanding it through words or logic.

In a modern era overflowing with information and explanations, clothing is sometimes overly described in words before it is even touched. However, for things that truly captivate the heart, reasons and evaluation criteria are unnecessary.

Fabrics steeped in history, boro textiles, and vintage wear that have been loved for a long time possess a beauty that words alone cannot convey. MARK.S's craftsmanship began with the pursuit of this extremely personal and intimate sensation that arises between clothing and people.

The designer personally collects hand-woven and hand-spun fabrics from around the world, as well as unused antiques and deadstock fabrics. Focusing on natural materials, they produce small quantities within Japan, making the most of the texture and history inherent in each material.

In the mud dyeing process handed down from ancient times in Amami Oshima, using mud, bark, and soil rich in iron creates colors with depth and fluctuation that can only be born from the nature of that land. Furthermore, depending on the fabric, it is slowly woven over time using old-fashioned looms that are close to hand-weaving machines.

What exists here is a set of values different from mass production that prioritizes efficiency. Creating clothes that do not waste materials, are not swayed by the times, and remain for the future while changing along with the wearer. A MARK.S garment is inscribed with the designer's aesthetic sense and the traces of accumulated time.

The designer's own name and background are not disclosed. This is based on the idea that they want people to see, touch, and feel the product itself before any such information.

The "MARK" in the brand name refers to an imprint, record, trace, or symbol. The "S" is layered with the meanings of Special and Supreme.

"The designer's record/archive."

The name MARK.S embodies the desire to leave one's aesthetic sensibility in clothing as a singular trace.
